Back to Nature Guide to Catfish
Catfishes are the most popular group of ornamental fishes available today - ask any aquarist, retailer, wholesaler, importer, and exporter. Almost every aquarium community has its resident species.
In nature catfishes thrive in torrential waterfalls, large lakes, thundering rivers, and quiet streams. They are mostly nocturnal, secretive, mysterious animals, and this factor certainly makes them attractive to hobbyists.
Another factor behind their success is the wonderful multitude of sizes, shapes, and forms found throughout the world. In captivity most catfishes are adaptable to water conditions and they usually prove extremely resilient against diseases.
This up-to-date guide provides an overview to species currently available and includes basic information on how to maintain them in captivity.

Back To Nature Guide To L-Catfishes
Back To Nature Guide To L-Catfishes
The armoured catfish family (Loricariidae), with more than 700 described species, is one of the largest and most varied groups of fishes known to Man.
Until a few years ago these catfishes played only an insignificant role in our aquaria, but nowadays they have become the height of fashion.
Since the latter part of 1988, when a number of new and sometimes exceptionally colourful loricariid catfish species were first imported, a real catfish boom has sprung into life.
Around 500 species new to the aquarium hobby have been imported, and these sometimes vary quite significantly in their requirements.
The object of this book is to provide both beginner and more experienced aquarist with an introduction to not only the maintenance but also the breeding of these fishes.
It covers some 390 of the most important and most interesting "L-number catfishes", listed alphabetically by genus and species, and illustrated in full colour.
The book uses easily understood symbols to provide details of eventual size and maintenance for each species, and is illustrated with more than 640 colour photos.

Their brilliant colors, ease of maintenance, and interesting behavior are the three most important reasons for their popularity. A selection of these fishes is all you need to create an interesting and decorative aquarium in your home. In order to enjoy your Malawi cichlid aquarium to the full, however, it is essential to take their specific maintenance requirements into account.
This new guide provides expert advice on all elements of proper maintenance, such as choice of aquarium (with details of the minimum size and capacity required for each species discussed), creating the correct water conditions, providing appropriate decor, feeding, breeding, common diseases, etc.
A detailed foldout map and 600 photos make this guide indispensable for anyone interested in these beautiful fishes.
This book is a revised and greatly expanded version of the Malawi cichlids guide published in the Back to Nature Series in 1997. Back to Nature Guide to Nano Aquaria
In the last few years so-called “nano aquaria” have became very popular. The main reason for this is probably that they are small and will fit almost anywhere.
Many beautifully-designed and functional nanos have been produced and numerous colourful freshwater shrimps and small fishes have been introduced into the aquarium hobby as well.
This book gives many examples of beautiful freshwater nano aquaria and also provides useful and adequate information on how to set up and maintain a nano. It also covers the fishes, shrimps, crayfishes, crabs, snails, and plants that can be kept in such a small aquarium.
This book contains approximately 490 excellent colour photos (by 41 photographers from nine countries) and species descriptions with information on and photos of more than 75 crustaceans (shrimps, crayfishes, crabs) and snails, 180 fishes, and 60 plants that are suitable for a nano aquarium.
