Seachem CupriSorb

Seachem CupriSorb

Seachem CupriSorb is a narrow spectrum, synthetic adsorbent based filter material for removing copper and heavy metals from either freshwater or marine water.

It extracts all types of copper, including chelated copper, and remains effective until it turns a deep blue-black color.

It may be regenerated repeatedly.

If placed in continuous service, it will gradually extract even precipitated copper and make invertebrate culture possible in tanks previously heavily treated with copper.

Seachem CupriSorb is a powerful copper specific chelating resin.

SeaChem Matrix

SeaChem Matrix

SeaChem Matrix : High Capacity Biofiltration

Controls Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate

Marine & Freshwater

Matrix is a highly porous media designed to provide exceptionally efficient bio filtration for single site removal of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate from freshwater, marine, and reef aquaria. Each litre of Matrix provides over 160,000 cm2 (170 sq. ft.) of surface, equivalent to over 40 L (10 US gallons) of typical plastic ball media!

Aerobic bacteria grow on the pitted external surfaces of Matrix and convert ammonia to nitrite and nitrite to nitrate.

Anaerobic bacteria convert nitrate into nitrogen gas, which is then expelled at the tank surface.

Directions:

Use 1 L of Matrix for each 400 L (100 US gallons) of water. Matrix may be placed in any kind of filter, and is particularly effective in a canister filter. Matrix is sufficiently large that no filter bag should be required for most applications.

This product is sold by volume. Cited weight is minimal weight.

Seachem Matrix Carbon

Seachem Matrix Carbon

Seachem Matrix Carbon - High Efficiency Spherical Carbon

Seachem Matrix Carbon is a truly unique activated carbon. It is formed as a spherical bead for optimum hydrodynamics, and will not pack. It permits maximum water flow and contact with its high density of macroporous binding sites.

Matrix Carbon has very low ash content as indicated by its minimal impact on pH. Even when added to distilled water, it does not raise pH above 7.0. While all carbons contain phosphate, regardless of false claims to the contrary, Matrix Carbon has the lowest detectable leachable phosphate content of all major carbon brands tested.

Seachem Matrix Carbon outperforms other high grade carbons by at least two-fold when compared for total capacity to remove aquarium organic matter, rate of adsorption, and duration of use.

Why It's Different

While carbon is generally considered to be a chemical filter, that is not precisely true. It is in fact a mechanical filter as well, but it is only capable of mechanically filtering objects of molecular size.

It functions through extremely small cracks and crevices, called macropores and micropores. Microporous carbons remove primarily metals and smaller ions (like trace minerals) and are best suited to air filtration, while macroporous carbons remove primarily larger organic molecules (like nitrogenous waste) and are best suited to water filtration.

The ingredients from which a carbon is manufactured determine whether it will be macroporous or microporous. Carbons made from coconut shell and other organic products form microporous carbons, while carbons made from bituminous coal form macroporous carbons. Seachem Matrix Carbon is a bituminous coal based macroporous carbon. It is the only spherical carbon on the market, allowing for maximum water flow. It is sized to allow full penetration by water, but not small enough to escape filter bags. All carbons contain phosphate. However that phosphate does not come from washing the carbon with phosphoric acid. Most carbons are washed with sulfuric acid. The phosphate is contained in the ash from the carbon source. The main purpose of acid washing is to remove ash.

Because of Matrix Carbon's hydrodynamic properties, more ash is washed from our carbon than any other. Therefore it has the lowest leachable phosphate on the market.

250ml : will easily treat 400 litres (100 galons) for several months.

500ml : will easily treat 800 litres (200 galons) for several months.

4 Litre : will easily treat 6400 litres (1600 galons) for several months.

Direction :

Seachem Matrix Carbon is very clean and nearly dust free. For best results, Matrix Carbon should be placed so as to maximize the flow of water through it. It may be use in a canister filter, chemical filtration module, box filter or any high flow area of a trickle filter.

Seachem The Bag

Seachem The Bag

Seachem The Bag - Welded Filter Bag

The Bag™ is an innovative welded filter bag with a durable non-stitched seam. It has a 180 micron mesh, and is resistant to bleach, caustics, and acids, and comes with a convenient resealable locking closure. It is available in a convenient 5" x 10" size. It is ideal for all filtration products and has an exceptionally long life.

Unlike stitched seams, welded seams are not subject to degradation from exposure to bleach, caustics, acids, or other harsh environmental exposure likely to take place during regeneration of filter media. Caution should be excercised, however, to avoid overfilling or over-packing as welded seams can be forced to separate by excessive pulling forces.

Contains : 1 x Filter Media Bag

Size : 130mm x 250mm (5ins x 10ins)
